India, Kuwait mark 65 years of ties with tree-planting drive at Rawda Park

The Embassy of India in Kuwait, in association with ARMS4U, organised a tree-planting drive at Rawda Park on October 24, 2026, under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (Plant 4 Mother) campaign, commemorating 65 years of diplomatic relations between India and Kuwait.

The event brought together Kuwaiti dignitaries, resident ambassadors, diplomats, members of the Indian community and school students in a collective effort to promote environmental sustainability. The initiative highlighted the importance of honouring mothers and Mother Earth through the meaningful act of planting trees.

It also underscored the role of community participation and cooperation in protecting the environment, developing sustainable urban spaces and contributing to a greener Kuwait. The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, which combines environmental responsibility with a heartfelt tribute to mothers, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 5 June 2024, on the occasion of World Environment Day. Since its launch, the campaign has been taken up across India and in several countries around the world, including Kuwait.

Speaking on the occasion, Indian Ambassador H.E. Paramita Tripathi highlighted the importance of community participation in advancing environmental sustainability and encouraged continued efforts to create greener and healthier public spaces. She noted that such initiatives not only benefit the local environment but also foster a shared sense of responsibility and strengthen community engagement.

The tree-planting drive also served as a tribute to the longstanding friendship and close cooperation between India and Kuwait, marking 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. By bringing together members of both communities around a shared environmental cause, the initiative provided an opportunity to strengthen people-to-people ties while promoting a common commitment to sustainability.

The Embassy of India expressed appreciation for ARMS4U’s support and cooperation in organising the event and encouraged continued community-led initiatives under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign to help build a greener and more sustainable Kuwait.
