68 people arrested during Al-Salmi, Amghara scrapyards security crackdown

Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested 68 people during a large-scale security campaign targeting the Al-Salmi and Amghara scrapyards, as part of stepped up efforts by the security authorities to flush out residency and labor-law violators, outlaws and those involved in criminal cases.

The campaign was carried out by the CID Operations Department. According to the Ministry of Interior, those arrested included 43 violators of Article 18 and Article 22 labor laws.

The operation also led to the arrest of 20 people (domestic workers) and three people reported absconding by their sponsors and two street vendors during the campaign. The CID men also arrested a Kuwaiti who was wanted by the law in a drug case.
