Custom Department foils attempt to smuggle 43.5kg of chewing tobacco

Kuwait customs officers at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing have foiled an attempt to smuggle 43.5 kilograms of a derivative of prohibited chewing tobacco, The substance was concealed inside a vehicle entering the country.
According to the General Administration of Customs, the tobacco was packed in 61 bags which had been tightly concealed inside the rear interior of the vehicle in an apparent attempt to prevent inspectors from detecting the shipment.
The driver was taken through the required customs and legal procedures following the seizure, according to the authorities. The case highlights continued customs efforts to detect concealed and prohibited substances being brought into Kuwait through land border crossings.
