Anti-narcotics officers arrest 12 suspects in eight cases, seize drugs and firearm
Personnel from the Directorate-General for Drug Control have arrested 12 pe0ple in eight separate cases for possessing narcotics and psychotropic substances allegedly intended for trafficking and personal use.
The Ministry of Interior said the arrests were carried out as part of continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and the distribution of psychotropic substances. The operations involved the International Control Department, Local Control Department and Information Department, reports Al-Rai daily.
Authorities seized 2,565 Lyrica capsules, 1,700 grams of hashish, 850 grams of methamphetamine, 150 milliliters of chemical liquid, 100 grams of hashish oil and 100 psychoactive tablets. The seizures also included 83 bottles of homemade alcohol, 40 sheets of paper saturated with chemical liquid, six grams of Lyrica powder and six sensitive scales, in addition to a firearm and ammunition.
Police also recovered 5,790 dinars, which authorities said were proceeds from drug sales. The suspects and all seized items were referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal action.
