5,000 traffic blocks lifted at Khairan Mall in 48 hours; new authorization feature soon on Sahel App
Under this system, any traffic violations incurred will be recorded against the authorized driver, not the vehicle owner

Brigadier-General Fahad Shabib Al-Ajmi, Director of the Violations Department, revealed a total of 5,000 traffic blocks were lifted within just 48 hours during the violations campaign at Al-Khairan Mall. He added that projections indicate the number of blocks lifted at the Avenues Exhibition, which runs until the April 17, may reach 15,000.
Al-Ajmi also announced an upcoming feature on the “Sahel” government services app that will allow vehicle owners to issue a “possession authorization” — enabling others to drive their vehicles legally, according to Al-Rai.
He emphasized that under this system, any traffic violations incurred will be recorded against the authorized driver, not the vehicle owner. The authorization can be granted for a specific duration or left open-ended, depending on the owner’s preference.
Commenting on the latest traffic enforcement trends, Al-Ajmi noted a drop in violations over the past two days, with only 17,000 violations of various types being recorded — a sign, he said, of growing compliance.
He stressed that strict enforcement of the traffic law continues to be an effective deterrent against reckless or unlawful driving behavior.
