Writers’ Forum Kuwait holds an enriching monthly gathering celebrating creativity, language, and friendship

Mahboula witnessed an unusual surge of weekend activity as members of the Writers’ Forum Kuwait (WFK) gathered at the residence of fellow member Mrs. Anupama Chaturvedi for their latest monthly meeting — an evening brimming with emotion, poetry, and camaraderie.

The session began under the leadership of Mrs. Maimuna Chougle, the Forum’s President, who opened the meeting on a solemn note.

She shared the sad news of the passing of Sardar Gurbaksh Singh Dogra, a long-standing WFK member, prolific writer, and ardent supporter of the forum’s literary mission. Members observed a two-minute silence in his memory, paying tribute to his remarkable contributions to the world of letters.

Once the silence lifted, the atmosphere gently transformed into one of artistic celebration. The hostess, Mrs. Chaturvedi, opened the evening’s session with her takhallus (pen-name) ghazal, recited in her melodious voice — a performance that set the tone for the evening.

Next, Mr. Muzammil captivated the audience with a mesmerizing Farsi ghazal, his eloquent diction weaving a spell of rhythm and mystique that left most listeners enchanted (and perhaps curious about its deeper meanings).

Mr. Yajuvendra followed with a contemporary Hindi poem on Diwali, rich in metaphor and reflective imagery, capturing the festival’s glow of light and hope. Mrs. Kalpana Shah, a steadfast friend of the forum, then shared her heartfelt poem on friendship — a moving piece that resonated deeply with the audience.

Mrs. Sabiha continued the poetic flow with her Hindi-Urdu composition, followed by Mr. Pawan Singh, who impressed everyone with his thoughtful Punjabi ghazal — a reminder that poetic expression transcends linguistic boundaries.

Proud father Mr. Mohan Singh, joined by his wife Mrs. Surinder, recited his daughter’s profound English poem, delivering it with emotion and grace. Adding a touch of linguistic mastery, Mr. Sayed Nazar Kadapawi presented a beautifully crafted Urdu ghazal built around the challenging radeef “disha,” earning much admiration from fellow writers.

The evening concluded on a celebratory note as members congratulated Mrs. Maimuna Chougle for receiving international recognition for her recent literary work, “Adab Daricha.”

The gathering closed with warm conversations, tea, and kachories — the perfect accompaniment to an evening of literature and laughter.

As always, the Writers’ Forum Kuwait reaffirmed its mission: to nurture creativity, bridge cultures through language, and provide a welcoming space for poets and writers of all tongues.
