Trump says ‘ready to go’ back to war as ceasefire end looms

Trump says he does not want to extend ceasefire

Donald Trump has signaled readiness to resume military action against Iran if a deal is not reached before the current ceasefire expires, raising tensions amid fragile diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.

Trump said the United States is “ready to go” back to war, underscoring that the truce is unlikely to be extended without a breakthrough agreement.

Negotiations to end the US-Israel war on Iran remain uncertain, with Tehran reiterating that it will not engage in talks under pressure. Iranian officials have stressed they will not negotiate “under the shadow of threats” or while facing a US naval blockade in the region.

The blockade, imposed earlier this month in the Strait of Hormuz, has further complicated diplomacy, with Iran warning it considers such measures a violation of the ceasefire.

Despite mediation efforts and ongoing backchannel contacts, both sides remain far apart on key issues, casting doubt over prospects for a lasting agreement before the deadline.

Analysts warn that failure to secure a deal could trigger a rapid escalation, with both Washington and Tehran signaling preparedness for renewed confrontation.

Trump says he does not want to extend the ceasefire, which is due to expire on Wednesday.

“We don’t have that much time,” he said in an interview with CNBC.

“Iran can get themselves on very good footing if they make a deal,” he said, adding that Iranian officials have “no choice” but to negotiate.
