Washington optimistic of US-Iran deal… but Tehran has yet to respond

Trump does not rule out military action if negotiations fail

US President Donald Trump said new peace talks with Iran have made progress, expressing optimism that a potential deal could soon be reached, but warning that military action could resume if negotiations fail.

Trump said discussions over the past 24 hours had been “very good” and suggested the conflict could end quickly if an agreement is reached, while insisting Iran must abandon its nuclear program and address issues linked to the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite the positive tone, he warned that if Tehran rejects US demands, “the bombing starts” again at a higher intensity, signaling the possibility of renewed escalation, according to news agencies.

Iran, meanwhile, confirmed it is reviewing a US peace proposal and said its official response will be delivered to Pakistani mediators after internal consultations.

However, Iranian officials pushed back on claims of an imminent breakthrough, saying the proposal is still under review and describing parts of it as unacceptable, while stressing that no final decision has been made.
