“The First Deputy Prime Minister” signs two contracts with UAE and British SRT to strengthen maritime security

These contracts will aid in modernizing marine boats and radar systems, initiating latest international maritime standards and enhance protection of Kuwait’s coasts and territorial waters.

The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior H. E. Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah signed two contracts today, Wednesday, with the UAE government and the British company “SRT Marine Systems” to develop marine boats and the radar system at the General Directorate of Coast Guard.

These two contracts were signed in the presence of the UAE Ambassador to the country, Dr. Matar Al-Neyadi; British Ambassador, Belinda Lewis; Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Border Security Affairs, Major General Mujbil bin Shawq and; Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Yousef Al-Sabah.

Furthermore, The First Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the signing of the two contracts came in accordance with high technical specifications, which is in line with the latest international maritime standards, and is a strategic step towards enhancing the maritime security of the State of Kuwait and confirms the close ties between Kuwait and the UAE in the field of military industry.

Significantly, he also pointed out that the current and future phases will witness a comprehensive and integrated modernization process based on the comprehensive strategic perspective, towards modernizing various security agencies to consolidate the rules of security.

He further added that the signing of the two contracts is an important step towards enhancing security, the safety of human lives, maritime security and ensuring the protection of Kuwait’s coasts and territorial waters, pertaining with goals of the future vision.

This comes as part of the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to enhance maritime security by providing the latest technological solutions to ensure the protection of Kuwait’s coasts and territorial waters and within the framework of bilateral cooperation between Kuwait and the UAE.
