Thanima Kuwait to host 18th National Tug of War Championship and Pearl of the School Award ceremony on December 6
The venue, named Raju Zakaria Nagar in honor of the late Raju Zakaria, a former Thanima member, will be officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Suresh Karthik, a former athlete and Kuwaiti businessman.
• Dr. Abdul Kalam Pearl of the School Award will be presented to students excelling in both academic and extracurricular subjects from 26 Indian schools in Kuwait.
The 18th National Tug of War Championship, organized by Thanima Kuwait for the Sanselia Ever Rolling Trophy, will be held on Friday, December 6, at the Open Flood Light Stadium, Abbasia Indian Central School, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm, announced Thanima Convener Dilip DK.
The venue, named Raju Zakaria Nagar in honor of the late Raju Zakaria, a former Thanima member, will be officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Suresh Karthik, a former athlete and Kuwaiti businessman.
The organizers also revealed that H.E. Dr. Manelisi P. Genge, the South African Ambassador to Kuwait, will attend as the distinguished guest at the general meeting.
Thanima Convener Dileep D.K., Program Convener Babuji Batheri, Thanima Office Secretary Jinu K. Abraham, Thanima General Convener Jojimon Thomas, Thanima Treasurer Rana Varghese, Thanima Joint Convener Kumar Trithala, and Thanima Finance Convener Shaji Varghese were present at the press conference.
On that day, the Dr. Abdul Kalam Pearl of the School Award will be presented to students excelling in both academic and extracurricular subjects from 26 Indian schools in Kuwait.
This year is notable because, for the first time, tug-of-war competitors from various regions of the globe will participate in a competition featuring over twenty teams that have been training for months. Athletes chosen from Tug of War Federation of India-approved events will represent the NRI Kuwait team in national contests taking place in India. The trophies, which stand 5-6 feet tall and continuously roll, are distinctive to Thanima Tug of War.
