Syrian visitors excluded from travel on national carrier requirement
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Kuwait, Muhammad Tamim Ali Al-Madani, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior and the General Administration of Civil Aviation for excluding members of the Syrian community coming on ‘family visit’ from the travel requirement on the national carrier’s aircraft. Al-Madani said this exemption was necessary due to the absence of direct Kuwait Airways or Jazeera Airways to Syria.
Al-Madani reaffirmed that Kuwait and Syria are close and have deep ties linking the two brotherly countries, and this exemption will help the Syrian people and alleviate the suffering of traveling through multiple airports.
Al-Madani added in a statement to Al-Jarida that this progressive initiative will help travelers, praising the work of the Kuwaiti leadership in general, to facilitate smooth solutions of all residents, especially members of the Syrian community, which see Kuwait as their second home.
He congratulated and thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, the Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti people, and the two nations.
In addition, Al-Jarida learned from informed security sources that the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Administration of Residency Affairs, has exempted nationals of some countries from the requirement to travel on the national carrier when obtaining visit visas and joining a family, due to the lack of direct flights to their countries. The sources explained that those included in the exception are nationals of some North African countries, Ethiopia and Syria.
