The event commenced with a presentation by Sujani Rana, Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal, who provided a historical overview of Mount Everest, known as Sagarmatha in Nepali.

She recounted the remarkable achievement of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, whose historic summit of the world’s highest peak brought global recognition to Nepal. Rana also emphasized the mountain’s enduring significance as a symbol of national pride and a cornerstone of Nepal’s adventure tourism industry.
The celebration was attended by ambassadors and members of the diplomatic community in Kuwait, reflecting the strong and enduring ties between Nepal and the international community.

Ghana Shyam Lamsal, Ambassador of Nepal to Kuwait, expressed his sincere appreciation to the event’s sponsors and distinguished guests for their support and participation. He underscored the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting Nepal as a premier travel destination.
A highlight of the evening was a culinary showcase featuring authentic Nepali cuisine prepared by three well-known Nepali restaurants in Kuwait—Himalaya House, Dampa Chautari, and Asian Chulo. Adding to the festive atmosphere, Nepali cultural groups presented traditional dances representing various regions of the country. Their colorful costumes, energetic performances, and captivating music drew enthusiastic applause from the audience, further showcasing Nepal’s vibrant cultural traditions.

As the celebration concluded, the Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Nepal as a destination where visitors can experience not only the grandeur of the Himalayas but also the warmth of its people, diverse traditions, and remarkable cultural treasures.
