New Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, sworn in before Kuwait Amir
Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem has been appointed as Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy. A distinguished academic and administrator, he has held key leadership roles in education and research and has numerous awards, patents, and publications to his name.

An Amiri decree was issued today, Monday, March 24, appointing Dr. Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem as Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy.
Furthermore, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem at Bayan Palace on Monday, where he took the constitutional oath before His Highness as the newly appointed Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, and senior state officials.
Minister Dr. Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem’s Biography:
Dr. Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, born in 1977, holds a degree as Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Kuwait University, which he earned in January 1999.
Al-Mukhaizeem earned a Master of Science, in Computer Science and Engineering, from the University of California, San Diego in March 2001. He later obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, from Yale University in December 2003, followed by a Master of Electrical Engineering in December 2004, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in June 2007.
Furthermore, Al-Mukhaizeem has held several key positions throughout his career, including Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education (2018-2023), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arabian Gulf University (2018-2023), Chairman of the Ministry of Higher Education Scholarships Committee (2018-2023), Chairman of the Post-Secondary Academic Degree Equivalency Committee (2018-2023), and Acting Secretary-General of the Council of Public Universities (2022-2023). Additionally, he served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Kuwait University from 2012 to 2015.
Al-Mukhaizeem also served as a member of several prestigious academic and governmental bodies, including the Council of Public Universities (2021-2023), the Board of Trustees of the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties (2019-2023), and the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (2018-2023). Additionally, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (2018-2023), the General Secretariat of Private Universities (2018-2023), and the Board of Trustees of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (2015-2023). He also briefly served on the Board of Directors of Kuwait University from 2018 to 2019.
Moreover, Al-Mukhaizeem served as Acting Director General of the National Authority for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance in 2018. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the UNESCO Institute of Statistics from 2017 to 2021, the Board of Directors of the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences from 2016 to 2018, and the Executive Board of the UNESCO International Bureau of Education from 2015 to 2021.
Al-Mukhaizeem was the Member of the Supreme Council for Education 2015-2019.
Al-Mukhaizeem also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Center for Education Development from 2015 to 2019, a member of the General Assembly of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement from 2015 to 2018, and as Director General of the National Center for Education Development from 2015 to 2018.
Al-Mukhaizeem was also a visiting faculty member at Yale University in 2009 and served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Kuwait University from 2007 to 2012. Additionally, he worked as a teaching assistant for several courses at Yale University and the University of California, San Diego from 1999 to 2007, alongside extensive professional experience at Kuwait University.
Al-Mukhaizeem has received several prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Work Center Award from the Deanship of Admission and Registration at Kuwait University in 2012. He was also honored with the Best Young Researcher Award from the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University in 2010, the Best Young Researcher Award in the Applied Sciences category from Kuwait University in the same year, and second place in the Scientific Poster Day competition at the College of Engineering and Petroleum in 2008.
Al-Mukhaizeem also holds two patents and has authored 16 research papers published in scientific journals, along with 31 research papers presented at specialized conferences and workshops.
