NASA launches 1st crewed lunar mission in 54 years

NASA’s Artemis II mission took off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday evening starting a 10-day journey to and around the Moon. The four-member mission – 3 Americans and a Canadian, is the first manned mission since December 1972 when the National Aeronautics and Space Administration sent its three-member Apollo 11 team to the Moon.
In earlier updates, NASA said weather for Artemis II mission launch showed an 80 percent chance of favorable conditions, with concerns of cloud coverage and potential high winds on the ground.
NASA had announced initiatives designed to achieve national space policy goals and strengthen US leadership in space, focusing on going back to the Moon, building a moon base, and advancing discovery with current and future science missions.
