MoH unveils Kuwaiti Rheumatology Fellowship, unified vasculitis protocol

Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Support Services at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Fars, said the Third Annual Conference of the Kuwait Association of Rheumatologists serves as a high-level platform for scientific exchange and updates in rheumatology.
During the event, Conference Chair Dr. Heba Al-Hajri announced plans to launch a Kuwaiti Rheumatology Fellowship, in collaboration with the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties, and to establish a unified national treatment protocol for autoimmune vasculitis with the help of international experts.
Dr. Al-Fars highlighted key Ministry of Health initiatives, including the development of national medical registries for diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, the integration of advanced diagnostic technologies, and the training of national medical staff through workshops and international collaborations.
The Ministry also launched specialized clinics for fibromyalgia and vascular ultrasound, and a transitional clinic for adolescent patients, reinforcing integrated care across specialties. Dr. Al-Fars emphasized Kuwait’s leadership in the region by hosting major conferences like ASAS and the Arab Rheumatology Associations Conference, and promoting international research participation by Kuwaiti specialists.
Dr. Al-Hajri described the conference as a distinguished scientific event, featuring 33 speakers (international, regional, and local), and a diverse program including expert sessions, workshops, and lectures on key rheumatologic conditions.
