MOH shuts down seven private healthcare facilities over serious violations

Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, issued a ministerial decree ordering the closure of seven private healthcare facilities and referring one medical center to the Medical Liability Authority after serious violations of health regulations were uncovered during a joint inspection campaign.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health said the decision covered a medical center, a clinic, physiotherapy centers, and home healthcare companies. Specialized inspection teams detected multiple violations related to licensing conditions, professional practices, and compliance with technical and administrative regulations.
The ministry revealed that one medical center in the Salmiya area was referred to the Medical Liability Authority for investigation following the discovery of major violations during a coordinated inspection campaign involving the Health Licensing Department, the Drug Inspection Department, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the General Department of Criminal Investigation.
According to the ministry, inspectors found that healthcare services were being provided by individuals without the required professional licenses. One individual listed on his civil ID as a sales representative was reportedly treating patients, providing medical consultations, and administering Botox and filler injections. Investigators also found that a receptionist was carrying out pre-treatment medical procedures.
The inspection teams additionally uncovered pharmaceutical violations, including unauthorized possession of medications, injections, and materials used in cosmetic and therapeutic procedures without obtaining the required approvals from the Drug Inspection Department.
The ministry stressed that the campaign reflects ongoing coordination among government agencies to strengthen oversight of the private healthcare sector and ensure compliance with laws and professional standards.
It added that inspection campaigns will continue across healthcare facilities as part of efforts to protect patients’ rights, improve healthcare quality, and reinforce public confidence in private medical services.
The ministry emphasized that it will take strict action against any violations of the laws and regulations governing healthcare practices in Kuwait.
