MoH launches ‘First Responders’ project with 28 emergency vehicles to boost crisis response

The core objective of the First Responders program is to quickly reach incident sites to deliver early resuscitation and urgent medical aid, particularly in remote or high-density areas -- Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi announced the launch of the “First Responders” project, a strategic initiative developed in collaboration between the Ministry of Health’s Medical Emergency Department and the General Secretariat of Endowments. The program aims to significantly improve the speed, quality, and effectiveness of emergency medical response across Kuwait.

Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized that the initiative is a key component of the national health strategy, focused on delivering timely and life-saving interventions, especially during critical moments where swift action can prevent serious complications or death, reports Al-Rai daily.

The core objective of the First Responders program is to quickly reach incident sites to deliver early resuscitation and urgent medical aid, particularly in remote or high-density areas. The initiative also enhances support for major incidents through on-site triage, early health assessment, and necessary stabilization before hospital transfer.

The newly deployed fleet includes 28 specialized vehicles, strategically distributed across the country based on population density, service scope, and urgency of response needs. This distribution will be continuously reviewed to maintain high operational efficiency.

According to Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Support Services, Dr. Abdullah Al-Fars, each vehicle is staffed by trained EMTs and paramedics certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). These vehicles are fully equipped with oxygen, advanced ventilators, resuscitation tools, fracture stabilization kits, vital sign monitors, and emergency medications.

Dr. Al-Fars explained that emergency response begins when the central operations room dispatches the nearest responder, who assesses the scene and provides immediate care until backup arrives or the patient is transferred.

He praised the collaboration with the General Secretariat of Endowments, highlighting it as a model of institutional integration that reflects the role of endowments in enhancing community health and safeguarding lives.
