Minister vows to address Kuwait’s power, water, and infrastructure needs
Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, confirmed the ministry’s readiness to handle anticipated electrical loads and meet diverse customer needs for the current and next month.

Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, as well as the Minister of State for Housing Affairs, emphasized his commitment to fully addressing the country’s electricity, water, and network development needs, as reported by Al Qabas newspaper.
This came during an extensive meeting he held with the ministry’s leaders, where he was briefed on the current status of electric power generation and water distillation plants, as well as the latest developments in electrical and water networks. He also discussed the anticipated electrical loads for the current and next month and confirmed that the ministry is prepared to meet the needs of customers across various categories.
The minister of electricity reviewed the ministry’s future directions regarding electric power generation and water desalination projects, renewable energy initiatives, network development, and smart meters, including the anticipated timelines for their implementation and completion.
He emphasized the importance of involving the private sector in both traditional and renewable electric power and water distillation projects, drawing on the successful experience of the Az Zour North Phase 1 project.
On the other hand, he highlighted the need to raise community awareness about the importance of rationalizing consumption, especially during peak summer times. He also emphasized expanding the ‘Hafiz’ rationalization program, which offers discounts on electricity and water bills for proven rationalization of these vital resources.
The latest developments in financial and administrative matters were discussed, with the minister stressing the importance of improving the efficiency of collecting the ministry’s dues, following up on tenders with regulatory authorities, and working to expedite these processes.
He also noted that the rehabilitation and training of all national staff, particularly recent graduates, is a key priority for the next phase.
Dr. Bushehri urged the ministry’s leaders to foster team spirit, commit to completing their tasks promptly, and work diligently to serve both citizens and residents in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
