“Minister Al-Mutairi” unveils winners of ‘2024 State Appreciation and Encouragement Awards’
The Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, who also serves as Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, announced the results of the 2024 “State Appreciation and Encouragement Awards”. The awards recognize outstanding contributions in the fields of arts, literature, social sciences, and humanities.
Minister Al-Mutairi emphasized in a statement on Tuesday, 7th January that the “State Appreciation and Encouragement Awards” reflect Kuwait’s commitment to honoring its talented citizens across various fields. He highlighted the nation’s gratitude for their exceptional contributions and their pivotal role in elevating Kuwait’s stature, expressing hope that they will serve as role models for future generations.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Mutairi thanked the award winners for their achievements and contributions to advancing Kuwait’s cultural, artistic, and scientific movement. He also expressed gratitude to the Supreme Committee for their efforts in selecting the winners, emphasizing the importance of fostering creativity and innovation to further enrich the nation’s cultural landscape.
Dr. Moudi Al-Hamoud was honored with the 2024 State Appreciation Award in social services for her significant contributions to academia and her influential role in enhancing the educational process.
Artist, Khaled Al-Obaid, was awarded the 2024 State Appreciation Award in the arts for his pioneering contributions to Kuwait’s artistic and theatrical movement. Similarly, Sanaa Al-Kharaz received the award in cultural services for her significant efforts in preserving and enriching the national memory.
In the 2024 State Encouragement Awards, artist Zahraa Jassim won in the Fine and Applied Arts category (drawing), while the Television Acting Award was presented to artist Hussein Al-Haddad.
In the 2024 State Encouragement Awards for literature, poet Mohammed Sarkouh won the Poetry Award, Hamoud Al-Shaiji received the Novel Award, and Basma Al-Wazzan was honored with the Children’s Literature Award.
Dr. Abbas Al-Haddad won the Linguistic, Literary, and Critical Studies Award. In the field of social and human sciences, Nader Al-Azmi received the History and Archaeology Award.
This year, the Awards Committee withheld several awards, including the Theatrical Direction Award in Arts, the Arab Heritage Investigation Award in Literature, and the Historical, Archaeological, and Folklore Studies Award in of the State of Kuwait in Social and Human Sciences. Additionally, no applications were submitted for the Critical Studies Awards in Fine Arts and Musical Arts, as well as the Philosophy Award.
The announcement followed the approval of the results by the award’s Supreme Committee, an independent body composed of cultural, literary, and scientific figures. The committee operates in accordance with the regulations set out in Ministerial Resolution (No. 46 of 2016) and its amendments.
