Met warns of strong winds, reduced visibility across Kuwait until Saturday evening

The Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, announced that horizontal visibility began to gradually decline in western Kuwait late evening on Monday due to strong winds expected to impact most regions in the coming hours with waves rising to more than seven feet as the unstable weather conditions are expected to continue until Saturday evening.

Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ali explained that weather maps and satellite imagery indicate the presence of active northwesterly winds exceeding 60 kilometers per hour. These conditions are likely to reduce visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some areas, particularly in open and exposed locations, reports Al-Jarida daily.

He added that the strong winds are expected to persist intermittently, contributing to continued periods of low visibility. Sea conditions are also forecast to worsen, with wave heights potentially exceeding seven feet.

Motorists were urged to exercise caution, especially on highways where visibility may be severely limited, while beachgoers were advised to avoid the sea due to the high waves.

Al-Ali encouraged citizens and residents to stay informed by following the latest updates through the Meteorology Department’s official website, mobile application, and social media platforms.
