Met director predicts scattered rain, strong winds, reduced visibility across Kuwait

Dharar Al Ali, Director of the Meteorology Department at the Ministry of Interior, has forecast continued scattered rain across the country, with occasional thunderstorms and strong winds potentially exceeding 70 kilometers per hour.
These conditions may lead to dust storms, reducing visibility to less than 1,000 meters, and in some areas, visibility may even reach zero.
In an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday, Al Ali explained that Kuwait is currently affected by a surface low-pressure system, accompanied by a relatively hot and humid air mass.
This weather pattern brings an increase in low and medium clouds, interspersed with intermittent cumulus clouds, along with the possibility of rain and strong winds that stir up dust and further impair visibility.
Al Ali noted that early this morning, dust-raising winds reduced visibility in some northern areas to less than 1,000 meters, with light scattered rain following the increase in low and medium clouds.
He called this period of instability ‘sarayat’, a transitional phase marked by rapid weather fluctuations. He also warned drivers about the reduced visibility, particularly on highways, and advised beachgoers to be cautious due to waves that may exceed six feet.
Al Ali urged both citizens and residents to stay updated on weather developments by following official forecasts through the Ministry’s website, app, and social media channels.
