Ahan Speaks to The Times Kuwait
What inspired you to take up running?
A friend introduced me to running when I was in 4th grade. His passion and dedication inspired me to give it a try, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Times: Who is your role model in athletics?
Ahan: I greatly admire Eliud Kipchoge, the Kenyan marathon legend. His discipline, consistency, and simple lifestyle inspire me. I’m also motivated by Jakob Ingebrigtsen from Norway.
Competing in 5K/10K races with adults is impressive! How do you prepare?
My coach tailors my training based on upcoming races. Personally, I focus on good sleep, nutrition, and hydration. Competing with adults has become a habit—I enjoy it!
How do you balance training with school?
I follow a 6-day training schedule, focusing on endurance, speed, and heart rate workouts, along with long easy runs. My parents don’t pressure me about studies, and my brother helps me. Running actually improves my focus in school.
Do you follow a special diet for performance and recovery?
I’m a vegetarian, and my mom, who is also a fitness coach, ensures I get the right balance of proteins and carbohydrates. I also take recommended supplements to aid recovery and overall growth.
What are your long-term goals?
Right now, I’m focused on improving my performance and competing in local races. Since official marathon participation starts at 18 years, my goal is to stay ahead of the competition and be ready when the time comes.
What advice would you give to young athletes?
Running is a great way to stay fit! I’d love to see more kids take it seriously. Like any sport, it requires hard work, focus, and determination. Enjoy the process, and success will follow!

The Road Ahead
Ahan’s journey is a testament to his passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Starting competitive long-distance running at such a young age is rare, making his achievements even more commendable.
