Lowest bidder secures 5.6 million dinar rainwater drainage project

The project in the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area is part of the Ministry of Public Works’ priority initiatives aimed at tackling challenges posed by floods and rain during the winter season.

The Ministry of Public Works plans to build a concrete rainwater drainage channel linking the General Organization for Housing Welfares collection tank in West Abdullah Al-Mubarak to intersections at the Seventh Ring Road with KBD and Jahra roads.

The Central Agency for Public Tenders has approved awarding the project for the establishment, completion, and maintenance of rainwater drainage in the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area to the company with the lowest bid, totaling 5.6 million dinars, according to Q8-Press.

The Ministry of Public Works sources indicated that the project falls under the ministrys priority projects developed to address challenges posed by floods and rain during the winter season, aimed at preventing a recurrence of the 2018 incident of the sinking of the seventh ring road.

The sources pointed out that the ministry aims to establish a concrete rainwater drainage channel. This channel will connect from the collection tank of the General Organization for Housing Welfare, located at the exit of the rain network in the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area, to the intersection of the Seventh Ring Road with the KBD road, and to the main rain network at the intersection of the Seventh Ring Road with the Jahra road.

The Central Agency for Public Tenders quickly raised its recommendation on quotations for the construction, completion, and maintenance of rainwater drainage in the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area. This was to study the recommendations and select the winning company for the project.

In a separate context, Al Ashghal launched road maintenance work in the Qurtuba area, which includes root maintenance for the road network, sewage network, rain network, lighting, and telephone infrastructure, as well as ground and curbstone signage.

The ministry emphasized that these works mark the beginning of launching comprehensive road maintenance projects across the country, adhering to specifications set by the ministry to enhance infrastructure.

In a related context, M. Ahmed Al-Saleh, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, announced the commencement of infrastructure improvement work in the Yarmouk area.

Al-Saleh pointed out that these works include replacing the sewage network, the rain network, and civil works related to the telephone network in coordination with the Ministry of Transport.

He added that the works also involve replacing lighting poles and related cables in coordination with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, installing treated water lines to supply the irrigation network in the region, and subsequently replacing the asphalt layer, tiles, and curbstones. He thanked the people of Yarmouk for their patience and cooperation with engineers during the implementation of these works.
