Lawyer sentenced to 5 years and 50,000 dinars for defrauding expatriate

Kuwait’s Criminal Court sentenced a lawyer to five years in prison and a fine of 50,000 dinars for defrauding an expatriate by promising to cancel the deportation of his relative in exchange for 50,000 dinars, of which he received 5,000 dinars. The lawyer also coerced the complainant into communicating with an unknown person who impersonated a detective.

However, the expatriate realized he had fallen into the lawyer’s trap and had been defrauded. He then went to the detectives and filed a complaint against the lawyer.

The Public Prosecution was notified, and permission was granted to film and record the incident with sound and image during a detectives’ ambush, where the expatriate was handing the lawyer the bribe.
