Kuwait’s Valtech Team wins Judges’ Award at VEX World Robotics Championship in Texas

In a proud achievement for Kuwait, the Valtech team from the Women’s Cultural and Social Society won the Judges’ Award in the High School Category at the 16th VEX World Robotics Championship 2025, held in Texas, USA.
In a joint statement released on Friday, the Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Youth said the victory highlights the strength of Kuwait’s growing talent in robotics and innovation. The championship, one of the largest global robotics competitions, featured around 1,200 teams from 60 countries.
The award-winning Kuwaiti team included high school students Mohammed Al-Bannai, Fajr Al-Maqhawi, and Yousef Al-Tamimi, with strong support from the home team in Kuwait: Yousef Al-Obaid, Wedad Reda, and Mohammed Al-Ali, under the leadership of Latifa Al-Marzouqi.
The Judges’ Award is presented to teams that demonstrate outstanding performance in areas such as teamwork, problem-solving, engineering design, and presentation skills, even if they do not secure other top prizes. The judging panel praised Valtech for their high level of commitment, innovative engineering solutions, and collaborative spirit.
The statement emphasized the vital role played by Kuwait University’s Department of Computer Science at the College of Science, in partnership with the Public Authority for Youth, the Ministry of Education, and strategic partners Zain Kuwait and Al-Sayer Group. These collaborations enabled the team to undergo months of rigorous training and mentorship, enhancing their skills in robotics and artificial intelligence.
The statement added Kuwait will participate next week in an elementary-level robotics seminar held alongside the VEX championship, marking Kuwait’s first entry in that category.
