Kuwait’s Sheikha Salwa Al-Sabah Center awarded with prestigious International Accreditation Certificate

The Sheikha Salwa Al-Sabah Center for Stem Cells and Umbilical Cord has made history as the first center in the Arab world, and only the second globally outside the United States to receive this prestigious international accreditation.

The Sheikha Salwa Al-Sabah Center for Stem Cells and Umbilical Cord labs has been awarded with the International Accreditation Certificate for Molecular Screening; by the Association for the Promotion of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB).

On this historical and momentous occasion, Dr. Reem Al-Radwan, Director of the Blood Transfusion Services Department at the Ministry of Health, stressed that the “accreditation is a very important step in the field of stem cell therapy; as it ensures that laboratories adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety in examination and treatment methods”.

She emphatically added that “this international certificate enhances trust between health care providers and patients, as it ensures that laboratories adhere to strict regulatory requirements, and provide accurate and reliable results.”

Dr. Radwan also pointed out that accredited laboratories adopt modern verified technologies, follow international best practices, which reduces the risk of contamination and ensures the safety of stem cell products.

Throwing more light on this significant achievement, Dr. Reem Al-Radwan explained that “accreditation opens up new horizons to start programs for the collection of stem cells and umbilical cord cells, which represents a fundamental step towards the development of innovative and effective treatments”.

On a similar note, Dr. Radwan also stressed upon that “the laboratories of the Sheikha Salwa Center for Stem Cells and Umbilical Cord, is the first in the Arab world and the second globally outside the United States of America to obtain this accreditation”.

As a futuristic approach, Dr. Radwan pointed out that “this achievement will have a significant impact on enhancing scientific research, improving patient treatment results, and enhancing the credibility of stem cell-based treatments for the medical community”.
