Kuwait University announces admission dates for first semester of 2025–2026

Kuwait University has announced the timeline for submitting admission applications to the first academic semester of 2025–2026 academic year for students who meet the eligibility criteria.
In a press statement issued Tuesday, Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration Dr. Fadel Aziz confirmed that the application period for Kuwaiti students, children of Kuwaiti women, GCC nationals, and bedoun who are not children of Kuwaiti women—as well as graduates of the unified system, religious institutes, American or British schools, and students expected to graduate from Kuwaiti-based institutions—will run from July 19 to July 29.
Dr. Aziz added that applicants from other categories may submit their applications in person at the Admissions and Registration Hall located in Sabah Al-Salem University City from July 23 to 29.
He clarified that admission to all majors will be based on the equivalent GPA, with specific weightings applied for majors in the College of Science and the College of Law, considering both high school grades and academic aptitude test scores.
Applications must be submitted through the university’s electronic admission system at http://portal.ku.edu.kw/admission.
Aziz emphasized that the admission approvals announced in the schedule apply to American and British school graduates who submitted applications online. Graduates of the unified system and religious institutes will have their admissions processed electronically and do not need to visit the admissions hall.
He also noted that results from TOEFL, IBT TOEFL, or IELTS may be submitted in place of the university’s English proficiency test. These results can be used to calculate the equivalent GPA or to waive the preparatory course requirement—provided they are submitted by the end of the acceptance period or within the first week of the semester.
For students who encounter issues accessing the system, an online guide will be provided to assist them. Dr. Aziz stressed that admissions are conditional on the accuracy of all submitted information and that incomplete or inaccurate documentation may result in cancellation.
He further stated that students with special needs who meet specific conditions can be admitted with minimum GPA thresholds of 65% for science majors and 72% for arts majors, provided they submit valid disability certificates and medical reports. These students must apply in person during official working hours. However, those with 70% (science) or 78% (arts) or higher may apply online.
Students from English curriculum schools who are expected to graduate must submit applications electronically within the given timeframe, and provide their final grades to the Deanship within two working days of results being announced.
For transfer students from other universities, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, military institutions, and the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences, the application period runs from July 1 to August 14. Admission applications for cultural scholarship students will be accepted from July 1 to August 7.
Finally, Dr. Aziz underscored the importance of closely following the university’s guidelines and adhering to all deadlines, as no applications will be accepted after the published cutoff dates.
