Kuwait tightens traffic controls on delivery drivers

Companies are urged to ensure drivers comply fully with traffic regulations

Kuwait is tightening traffic enforcement on delivery drivers, with the Ministry of Interior warning companies that violations will result in legal action, including the impoundment of motorcycles or vehicles for two months.

The warning was issued during a meeting on Sunday, October 4, between representatives of delivery companies and Brigadier General Ahmed Fahad Al-Azmi, Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector, held on the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.

Director-General of the General Traffic Department Brigadier General Rashid Hamoud Al-Hajri and a number of General Traffic Department officers also attended the meeting. The Ministry said the discussions focused on strengthening traffic awareness among delivery drivers and ensuring greater compliance with traffic regulations.

Company representatives were reminded of their responsibility to educate drivers about traffic violations and road safety requirements, with particular emphasis on protecting delivery workers and other road users. The Ministry said several violations committed by delivery drivers had already been detected and stressed that offenders would face the prescribed legal measures, including a two-month impoundment of the motorcycle or vehicle involved.

Delivery companies were urged to ensure that their drivers comply fully with traffic regulations. The Ministry also confirmed that field inspections and enforcement campaigns would continue as part of efforts to improve road safety and protect lives and property.
