Kuwait thwarts drone threats as diplomacy intensifies across strategic fronts

Kuwait has ramped up its diplomatic engagement on multiple fronts to keep pace with fast-moving regional developments, conducting a series of high-level contacts with allied nations and international organizations. The efforts come amid heightened tensions, as the country seeks to reinforce stability and support de-escalation initiatives.

However, field calm was disrupted on Thursday evening, marking the 41st day of heightened alert, when hostile drone attacks breached Kuwaiti airspace. The Armed Forces’ air defense systems successfully intercepted and responded to the unmanned aerial threats, which targeted several vital facilities.

In parallel, Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber held a series of phone calls with key international counterparts, including Prince Faisal bin Farhan of Saudi Arabia, Hakan Fidan of Turkey, Constantinos Kombos of Cyprus, and Radmila Šekerinska of NATO. Discussions also included Muhammad Ishaq Dar of Pakistan and Antonio Tajani of Italy.

The talks focused on the evolving regional situation and ongoing diplomatic efforts. Kuwait commended Pakistan’s role in facilitating a ceasefire declaration between the United States and Iran, highlighting the importance of coordinated international mediation.

On the ground, Ministry of Defense spokesperson Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan confirmed that Kuwaiti Armed Forces remain at the highest level of readiness, maintaining continuous vigilance to safeguard national security and protect both citizens and residents.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior spokesperson Brigadier General Nasser Bouslaib reaffirmed during the daily briefing that the security situation remains stable and fully under control.

He noted that security and military agencies are operating around the clock within a unified and highly efficient system, capable of responding immediately to any emergency without disrupting daily life.

Bouslaib praised the frontline personnel for their professionalism, courage, and unwavering commitment, while also commending the public’s awareness and unity.

He emphasized that the strong cohesion between authorities and society reflects national resilience and reinforces Kuwait’s ability to confront challenges with solidarity and resolve.

As diplomatic efforts continue alongside heightened security measures, Kuwait underscores a dual approach of engagement and vigilance to navigate an increasingly complex regional landscape.
