Kuwait rolls out exclusive digital driving permits for expatriates

• The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector stated that the printing of all types of driving permits has been discontinued in favor of the digital version available through the Ministry of Interior application.

The General Directorate of Traffic confirmed that all types of driving permits are now digital through the Ministry of Interior’s app, but Al-Rai newspaper has learned that these permits are only for expatriates.

The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector stated on its official account on the ‘X’ platform that, as part of the Ministry of Interior’s digitization efforts through the General Directorate of Traffic, the printing of all types of driving permits (fare, demand fare, driving coach, public bus, mobile fare and individual driving coach) has been discontinued in favor of the digital version available through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) application.

A security source explained to the newspaper that these permits are for expatriates only, noting that truck drivers, whose work requires travel outside Kuwait, are exempt and permitted to carry physical driving licenses and permits due to the nature of their jobs.
