Kuwait, Malta discuss future trade partnerships in virtual forum

The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a virtual meeting to explore potential cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Malta, according to Q8-Press.
The session featured Mr Chris Vassallo Cesareo, the President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with His Excellency Prof. George A. Said-Zammit, the Ambassador of Malta to Kuwait, and the Assistant Director General and Director of the Department of International Organizations and Chambers. Several Kuwaiti companies also participated.
The chamber welcomed the meeting, which aims to strengthen the trade partnership between Kuwait and Malta. The meeting seeks to explore and develop business partnerships, with a focus on enhancing cooperation, driving innovation, and creating mutual opportunities across various sectors between the two countries.
The chamber emphasized that Kuwait offers its strategic geographical location and established economy as key opportunities for innovation and expansion, while Malta is known for its vibrant economy, adaptability, technological innovation, and skilled workforce, making it a hub for technology, financial services, tourism, and education.
It was further highlighted that, to promote genuine bilateral trade flows and investments between the two friendly countries, efforts should focus on diversifying mutual goods, increasing foreign direct investment, implementing joint projects, and promoting the conclusion of multiple economic agreements. These initiatives are essential to explore new sectors and effectively enhance cooperation between Kuwait and Malta.
The chamber highlighted three main areas where significant benefits can be achieved: innovation and technology, sustainable development and energy, and tourism and cultural exchange. Additionally, it emphasized the importance of focusing on education and skills development, as well as financial services and investment.
For his part, the Maltese ambassador stated that this meeting is the result of a long-standing relationship between the two countries, stressing that the symposium aims to explore opportunities and possibilities for cooperation between them.
Chris Vassallo Cesareo, in turn, emphasized that the relations between the two countries are exceptional, calling for the activation of trade relations and efforts to attract investors to the available opportunities. He pointed out that Malta focuses on education, innovation and technology, logistics, and healthcare activities.
During the symposium, a visual presentation was given by the Gozo Chamber, an island in Malta, showcasing opportunities in the digital and healthcare sectors. Additionally, the Malta Economic Development Agency presented a visual overview of their tax system, support for medium and small enterprises, advanced industries, life sciences and medical devices, digital innovation, navigation and logistics, financial services, and aviation.
