AmCham Kuwait bridges gaps for US and local businesses

The quarterly Vendor Day event offered vendors valuable insights, networking opportunities, and tools to enhance their business operations.

Matthew Paschke, Consul General of the U.S. Embassy Kuwait, emphasized the importance of American citizens adhering to local laws and regulations, covering key areas such as labor, business practices, and residency requirements, and shared valuable resources available through the embassy.

AmCham Kuwait organized its quarterly Vendors Day, a key event aimed at assisting U.S. and local vendors in understanding compliance, contracting, and legal requirements in Kuwait.

Held on November 25 at the Crowne Plaza Farwaniya Auditorium, the event provided vendors with valuable insights, networking opportunities, and tools to enhance their business operations.

The event began with a warm welcome and opening remarks by Pete Swift, Chairman of AmCham Kuwait, who outlined the day’s agenda and introduced key participants. Brief remarks by Lt. Col. Guerra added to the event’s informative tone.

Attendees received detailed guidance on JCCS registration and compliance from Douglas Dunn, gaining valuable insights into the requirements for vendors interested in regional U.S. Department of Defense contracts. This was followed by a step-by-step walkthrough of the SAM.gov registration process, led by a representative from 386th ECONS, equipping attendees with tools for efficient account management. A session on the Government Purchase Card (GPC) Program provided an overview of its benefits and compliance requirements.

He also shared valuable resources available through the U.S. Embassy Kuwait.

Another important segment was a discussion on Combatting Trafficking in Persons (CTIP), presented by Iskandar Atajanow, U.S. Embassy Kuwait Political Officer. This session underscored the critical role vendors play in preventing human trafficking and offered guidance on implementing effective CTIP programs within their organizations.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Ret. Colonel Douglas Hurst, Board Member and Chair of the Defense, Safety, and Security (DSS) Focus Group, who highlighted the importance of compliance in business practices and thanked participants for their active engagement.

Following the formal agenda, attendees engaged in informal networking and explored potential partnerships and services.

Vendor’s Day proved to be an invaluable event, offering a platform for knowledge-sharing and fostering connections essential for building successful partnerships with the U.S. government.
