Kuwait, Italy sign military cooperation agreement to strengthen defense ties

Minister of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, and his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, signed a military cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing coordination, exchanging expertise and strengthening joint work between the armed forces of both countries.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense said the agreement was signed during Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah’s official visit to Italy, where he met Crosetto at the Italian Ministry of Defense headquarters in Rome and was accorded an official military reception.

The statement noted that the talks addressed issues of mutual interest, particularly regional and international developments, as well as efforts to promote security and stability, reports Al-Rai daily.

Both sides also reviewed bilateral relations and explored prospects for closer cooperation in military and defense fields, with a focus on enhancing the strategic defense partnership between Kuwait and Italy.

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah affirmed that the strong historical ties between Kuwait and the friendly Italian Republic are built on solid foundations of constructive cooperation and strategic partnership, especially in the military and defense sectors.

He stressed the mutual commitment to continue strengthening bilateral defense cooperation in a way that serves shared interests and aspirations.

During his visit, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah also toured Italy’s Flag Memorial, which commemorates the sacrifices of the armed forces. He was briefed on the monument’s facilities, grounds and historical significance.
The signing ceremony was attended by a number of senior military leaders and officials from both countries.
