Kuwait issues six decrees, revokes citizenship of 415 people

Six decrees published in Kuwait’s official gazette, Kuwait Alyawm, have revoked the Kuwaiti citizenship of 415 individuals, including people who had acquired citizenship through dependency.
Under Decree No. 155 of 2026, Kuwaiti citizenship certificates were revoked from six individuals, including those who had acquired citizenship through dependency on the certificate holders.
Decree No. 156 of 2026 revoked the citizenship of 286 individuals, including those who had acquired citizenship through dependency on them.
Decree No. 157 of 2026 revoked the Kuwaiti citizenship of 14 women.
Under Decree No. 158 of 2026, citizenship was revoked from 25 individuals, including those who had acquired it through dependency on them.
Decree No. 159 of 2026 revoked the citizenship of 41 individuals, including those who had acquired it through dependency on them.
Meanwhile, Decree No. 160 of 2026 stipulated the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship from 43 individuals, along with those who had acquired citizenship through dependency.
The decrees stated that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior is responsible for implementing the decisions. They took effect from the date of issuance and publication in the official gazette.
