Kuwait foils major drug smuggling attempt linked to fugitive in UK

Personnel from the Directorate-General of Narcotics Control and the General Administration of Customs have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics into the country which reportedly arrived from a Western country.

The seizure is linked to ongoing investigations in Case No. 905/2025, which had earlier led to the arrest of a key suspect, known as “the lawyer,” along with two accomplices, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Following intense investigations, authorities intercepted an air freight shipment containing 50,000 Lyrica capsules, 3 kilograms of hashish, and 4 kilograms of a liquid substance suspected to be narcotic. The tip-off came after the arrested suspect handed over the shipment policy, which was traced back to a fugitive identified as M.R.

Further investigation revealed the primary suspect behind the shipment, identified only as M.R.M.A., is a Kuwaiti citizen born in 2001, currently residing in the UK.

He has a criminal record that includes three outstanding arrest warrants and a five-year prison sentence issued in absentia. Intelligence reports indicate he was orchestrating the distribution of these substances across Kuwait, targeting young people through a network of accomplices.
