Kuwait fast-tracks three new cities in major expansion push
The residential cities in Al-Khairan, Nawaf Al-Ahmad, and Al-Sabriya are expected to provide approximately 170,000 diverse housing units, featuring advanced construction systems, infrastructure works, and building codes.

• Nawaf Al-Ahmad City will cover an area of 125 square kilometers, and the total number of residential units in the section designated for citizens’ housing will reach 55,000.
• Al-Sabriya City will be built on an area of 80 square kilometers and will contain approximately 55,000 housing units.
• The cities will cater to the housing needs of Kuwaiti families, offering a variety of housing options and the development is divided into residential areas for citizens and designated areas for services, commerce, investment, and other essential facilities.
Abdullatif Al-Mishari, the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Housing Affairs, announced the launch of three consultancy service competitions for detailed studies, planning, design, and preparation of tender documents for the construction, completion, and maintenance of main roads and major infrastructure networks in Al-Khairan, Nawaf Al-Ahmad, and Al-Sabriya, reported Arabic daily Al Rai.
The competitions are open to consultancy offices to expedite the implementation process, following approval from the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare.
Al-Mishari, stated that the development of these new residential cities has begun with the board’s approval, aiming to accelerate the pace of work and improve the documentation process for welfare projects. This initiative will help overcome existing challenges and ensure the provision of adequate housing for citizens, addressing the ongoing housing issue.
Al-Mishari emphasized the importance of adhering to the highest quality standards in the development of these new cities. He revealed that the planning, design, and implementation competitions will be restricted to companies and consultancy offices specializing in this field, ensuring that the work follows the best international practices. The competition is open to both local and international firms.

Regarding Nawaf Al-Ahmad City, Al-Mishari stated that it will cover an area of 125 square kilometers, and the total number of residential units in the section designated for citizens’ housing will reach 55,000.
Regarding Al-Sabriya City, he noted that it will be built on an area of 80 square kilometers and will contain approximately 55,000 housing units.
He added that the Public Institution for Housing Welfare is committed to accelerating the pace of project implementation and is working in coordination with other government agencies to expedite completion and remove obstacles.
