Kuwait cracks down on fake social media accounts

Suspect behind online incitement, spreading rumors in police custody

The Ministry of Interior has dealt a decisive blow to fake social media accounts that have been spreading rumors, inciting discord, and insulting citizens and officials.

According to Al-Rai, Kuwaiti security authorities have taken custody of Nawaf Al-Badri, who is accused of managing several fake accounts to disseminate false information and provoke public unrest.

Al-Badri was recently arrested in Qatar and handed over to Kuwaiti authorities following coordinated efforts between Kuwait and Gulf security agencies.

He is expected to be referred to the competent authorities for legal action based on the charges filed against him.

The move underscores the Ministry of Interior’s continued efforts to combat cybercrimes, preserve public order, and hold accountable those who exploit digital platforms to harm individuals or spread misinformation.
