Kuwait condemns IRGC infiltration, calls it dangerous attack on national sovereignty
Bubiyan Island incident triggers fierce Kuwaiti rebuke of Iran’s ‘illegal hostile acts’; confessed during interrogation that they belonged to IRGC and infiltrated Bubiyan Island to carry out hostile acts inside Kuwait

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement has strongly condemned and denounced acts committed by an armed group affiliated to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of the Islamic Republic of Iran who infiltrated the Bubiyan Island with the aim of carrying out hostile acts against the State of Kuwait, and their engagement with Kuwaiti Armed Forces personnel before being apprehended, which resulted in the injury to one member of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the State of Kuwait’s demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran immediately and unconditionally cease its unlawful hostile acts that threaten the security and stability of the region and undermine regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation.
While affirming the State of Kuwait’s historic and steadfast commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and the rejection of the use of its territories and airspace to launch any hostile acts against any state, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that the hostile acts carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, a grave breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a brazen challenge to the international will and to Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the Islamic Republic of Iran bears full responsibility for these hostile acts, and that the State of Kuwait reserves its full and inherent right to self-defense in accordance with Article (51) of the United Nations Charter, and to take such measures as it deems appropriate to defend its sovereignty and protect its people and residents on its territories, in accordance with international law.
The Ministry of Defense in a statement on May 3 had said 4 infiltrators who attempted to enter the country by sea had been arrested.
The group had confessed during their interrogation that they belonged to the Revolutionary Guard of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
They also confessed to being tasked with infiltrating Bubiyan Island aboard a fishing boat that had been specially chartered to carry out hostile acts against Kuwait.
They clashed with the Kuwaiti armed forces, resulting in one member being injured and two infiltrators fleeing Kuwait’s territorial waters.
