Kuwait City Named “Arab City for Humanitarian Diplomacy 2025”

The Regional Network for Social Responsibility has officially announced the selection of Kuwait City as the “Arab City for Humanitarian Diplomacy for 2025”, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to humanitarian efforts at the local, regional, and international levels.
The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 9th Donors Conference and Awards 2025, organized by the Regional Network in cooperation with the International Center for Humanitarian Diplomacy and other institutions.
The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, and was attended by a distinguished group of Arab and international figures.
As part of the ceremony, several prominent personalities were honored with the International Medal for Humanitarian Diplomacy, including:
- Counselor Bader Mohsen Al-Mutairi, Head of the Permanent Mission and Delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations in Geneva, and Supervisor of its UNESCO Office in Paris.
- Counselor Khaled Khalifa, Advisor to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and Representative of the Commission to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
In his remarks, Advisor Bader Al-Mutairi expressed pride in receiving the honor, stating, “Kuwait’s selection as the Capital of Humanitarian Diplomacy reflects the country’s distinguished record in humanitarian work across all levels—nationally, regionally, and globally.”
He also extended his gratitude to the Regional Network for Social Responsibility for the recognition, noting that it adds to Kuwait’s growing list of achievements and highlights the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Throughout the conference, participants explored strategies to strengthen social responsibility and strategic partnerships among government bodies, private sector players, and civil society organizations in support of humanitarian and development initiatives across the region.
The annual conference is regarded as a leading platform for recognizing institutions and individuals who significantly contribute to humanitarian causes under the framework of social responsibility.
