Kuwait awards 2.79 mln dinars tender for meter upgrades in three governorates

The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has approved the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy’s request to award a 2.79 million dinars tender for the disconnection, connection, and replacement of electricity and water meters in Hawalli, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, and Ahmadi governorates.

The contract will go to the third-lowest bidder, which met all technical requirements and project specifications, reports Al-Rai daily.

CAPT explained that the lowest-priced bid was excluded for failing to meet the necessary conditions, emphasizing that the decision ensures the highest standards of quality and technical compliance for the project.

The project aims to replace old meters with modern, accurate devices, enhancing the efficiency of electricity and water services, streamlining reading and billing processes, and reducing waste and unregulated consumption.

This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader plan to upgrade its networks and improve service levels across Kuwait, supporting the country’s transition to smart systems and digital management of public utilities.
