Dr. Wijdan Al-Oqab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, met with Samia Segay, the Cultural Cooperation Attaché of the French Embassy.
The discussions yielded several proposals for future environmental cooperation frameworks between the association and the embassy, highlighting the significance of their partnership. Among the key initiatives is the coordination for the inaugural “Kuwait-French Environmental Week,” as reported by Al Jarida newspaper.
Al-Uqab stated in a press release that she discussed several ideas with Samia Segay to activate mutual and joint activities. She noted that the meeting included a conversation about the possibility of the French Embassy arranging an educational and recreational environmental training program in Paris for the youth of the association and members of the members of the environment group. This program could include visits to sites such as the Scientific City, the nuclear power plant, nature reserves, and recycling facilities.
She highlighted that the launch of environmental, cultural, and applied events would feature training programs, workshops, and field visits to prominent French environmental landmarks, organized through a phased series to be implemented in the French capital.
Al-Uqab explained that the participation of the French Embassy was proposed for environmental scientific forums and conferences organized by the association in December and during the first half of 2025. This collaboration would involve utilizing the “International Speaker” program to host specialized speakers and enrich the events.
