Kuwait Amir visits Ministry of Interior
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Tuesday, visited the Ministry of Interior accompanied by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
His Highness the Amir was received by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Sabah, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Salem Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Addressing the ministry’s top officials, His Highness the Amir congratulated the ministry and its staff on the Holy Month of Ramadhan, praying to Allah almighty to bring back the holy month with Kuwait and its people graced with goodness and blessings.
His Highness the Amir said that the security forces have a great role to play to preserve order of the country, calling on forces to stay alert at all times in order to prevent any possible danger and harm from happening. “We appreciate the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in combating drugs, and protecting our youth, which crowned by the General Administration for Drug Control winning the competition for the best field cooperation and operational information at the Arab level,” said His Highness the Amir.
During the visit, His Highness the Amir urged the top officials to continue to develop and advance security work, raise the efficiency, capacity and readiness of security personnel, develop infrastructure, provide distinguished services to citizens and residents, and continue to consolidate joint cooperation locally, regionally and internationally. His Highness the Amir also urged for the digital transformation of all possible services provided by the Ministry of Interior in all its sectors.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Sheikh Salem Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah thanked His Highness the Amir for the visit. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Sheikh Salem Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah expressed on behalf all Interior the ministry members best wishes and congratulation to His Highness the Amir on the holy month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Salem, in his speech, also extend sincere thanks and appreciation for such visit, and renewing the pledge of allegiance, loyalty and obedience to defend the nation has and firmly protect the country from all threats.
Sheikh Salem noted that members of the Ministry of Interior, are fully confident of His Highness the Amir’s keenness to achieve the highest goals for the nation and its citizens.
They are aware of the magnitude of the responsibilities placed on their shoulders to achieve those goals.
“Therefore, we assure Your Highness that all sectors of the Ministry of Interior are at the highest levels of readiness, and vigilance, for the protection of the country and that the country’s security will not be compromised.
Sheikh Salem added that the Ministry of the Interior has taken great strides towards digital transformation in all its sectors, not only in terms of services, but also in all security fields to keep pace with the tremendous technological development in the field of database systems and their uses.
The Undersecretary said the number of users engaged with the Ministry of Interior’s electronic services has reached more than eight million users, all have benefited from these services.
Within the path of development and future directions of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry has set major goals during the current and future period, in addition to its strategic vision in combating crime in all its forms to achieve security and stability in the country.
Sheikh Salem added among these goals are: addressing those who spread rumors and fake accounts and taking legal measures against them. Second, firmness in enforcing the law and eliminating prejudice.
Third, determination to eradicate the plague of drugs and psychotropic substances by taking advanced measures to deal with and eliminate this scourge. Fourth, firmly implement the new traffic law immediately after its approval by the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Salem said within the framework of developing and modernizing the security system with the latest international systems in order to preserve the safety of the nation, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Administration of Information Systems, the General Administration of Forensic Evidence, and the Port Security Sector, in mid-May 2023, implemented the biometric fingerprint system in all ports of the country.
The data of one million and 694,000 people, including citizens and Gulf nationals (residents, visitors), and people of unknown nationality, has been created and updated, and work is underway to take fingerprints for the target groups through fingerprint centers.
Sheikh Salem added that out of our belief in preserving the integrity of the elections and the appearance of the democratic process in an honorable and transparent manner, the sectors of the Ministry of the Interior prepared early for the upcoming parliament election, organizationally and security-wise, and to confront election crimes of all kinds and forms.
Other senior officials from the Interior ministry delivered similar speeches and the ceremony was concluded with a memorabilia shield in honor of His Highness the Amir’s visit.
