Kuwait Activates Emergency Plan After Attack on Airport Terminal; Flights Suspended Until Further Notice

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Wednesday the activation of its emergency response plan at Kuwait International Airport after Terminal One (T1) was targeted by Iranian drones and missiles, resulting in significant damage to several airport facilities and causing casualties.
DGCA official spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi said the relevant authorities immediately responded to the incident in accordance with approved emergency procedures and contingency plans to ensure the safety of passengers, airport staff, and airport infrastructure.
Al-Rajhi added that all flight operations have been suspended and flights are being diverted to alternative airports until further notice, pending the completion of necessary security and technical measures and confirmation of the airport’s readiness to resume operations.
He noted that specialized technical teams have begun comprehensive inspections and assessments of the damage sustained by airport facilities and operational systems in preparation for repair and restoration work.
Al-Rajhi stressed that the safety of passengers and employees remains the top priority, affirming that the public will be updated as soon as additional information becomes available.
