Korean firms pave the way for Kuwait’s infrastructure growth

His Excellency Chong-Suk Park, the Korean Ambassador to Kuwait, said the cooperation between the two countries is expanding into strategic new sectors in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035.

His Excellency Chong-Suk Park, the Korean Ambassador to the country, said Korean companies are involved in several future projects, including the operation of the (T4) passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport, the development of new cities, smart farms, fiber optic cable factories, and the healthcare sector.

His Excellency Chong-Suk Park, the Korean Ambassador to the country, lauded the strength of Kuwaiti-Korean relations, describing them as a model of fruitful cooperation built on trust, mutual respect, and excellence at all levels.

Ambassador Park, during a luncheon at his residence  with journalists, explained that diplomatic relations between Kuwait and South Korea were officially established in 1979. However, cooperation between the two countries began four years earlier in the construction sector, while collaboration in the energy sector dates back to 1964. In 2024, the two nations celebrated the 60th anniversary of their energy cooperation.

He noted that 2025 marks a significant milestone in their partnership, as it will be the 50th anniversary of Korean companies winning their first construction project in Kuwait.

The ambassador highlighted the vital role Korean companies have played in developing the country’s infrastructure, contributing to major projects such as Ring Roads 1 and 6, Highway 30, and the Sheikh Jaber Bridge, which has become a symbol of strong bilateral ties.

50th anniversary of cooperation with Kuwait

He emphasized that Kuwait-Korea cooperation is expanding into strategic new sectors in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035. Korean companies are involved in several future projects, including the operation of the (T4) passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport, the development of new cities, smart farms, fiber optic cable factories, and the healthcare sector, with expectations for further growth in these fields in the coming years.

Regarding the embassy’s plans for this year, Ambassador Park announced its intention to celebrate the 50th anniversary of cooperation with Kuwait in the construction sector by organizing various events to strengthen bilateral relations. These include high-level exchanges, economic activities such as the Smart City Forum, and cultural and sports events like the Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship, the Korean Food Festival, the Film Festival, and cultural competitions. Additionally, activities focused on studying and tourism in Korea will be held to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Concluding his speech, he emphasized the importance of these events in strengthening cooperation and fostering cultural and economic exchange, ultimately advancing bilateral relations to new heights.
