KOC drills 498 new wells, boosts production by 10,000 barrels daily

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) drilled a total of 498 new oil wells during its recently concluded fiscal year, excluding non-associated gas wells, according to an informed industry source. In addition, the company carried out 2,107 well repair and maintenance operations, reflecting a significant focus on sustaining and enhancing oil production capacity.
A key achievement, the Al-Jarida reports that, during the year was the reduction of scheduled closed wells for maintenance from 14% to just 5% of total producing wells connected to gathering centers.
This puts KOC well within the global benchmark range of 5% to 10%, signaling improved operational efficiency and proactive asset management.
This performance improvement, the source noted, was driven by the implementation of an integrated organizational structure, optimization of supply chain processes, and best-in-class maintenance practices. As a result, KOC successfully added an extra 10,000 barrels of oil per day — an annual gain of roughly 3.65 million barrels.
These enhancements reflect KOC’s ongoing commitment to production sustainability and operational excellence, especially amid global efforts to maintain reliable oil supplies under evolving market dynamics.
In a separate but equally notable development, the company achieved a record high in non-associated gas production. In November, output peaked at 683 million standard cubic feet per day, the highest in KOC’s history. By fiscal year-end, the average production stood at 637.5 million standard cubic feet per day, exceeding the target of 630 million.
These milestones underscore KOC’s strategic direction toward maximizing both oil and gas output, improving maintenance turnaround, and meeting the country’s growing energy demands while aligning with international performance standards.
