K9 Unit plays vital role in protecting ports, combating trafficking
Director General of the General Administration of Customs Yousef Al-Nuwaif has emphasized the importance of continuously developing the Customs Impact Unit and enhancing its capabilities to support efforts in combating smuggling and protecting Kuwait’s customs ports.
Al-Nuwaif, accompanied by Deputy Director General of Customs for Ports, Search and Customs Investigation Affairs Saleh Al-Omar, conducted an inspection tour of the K9 Customs Impact Unit — canine (dog) unit operated by the General Administration of Customs to support customs inspections and anti-smuggling operations — to review operational readiness, workflow procedures, and the mechanisms used by customs inspection teams.
During the visit, officials reviewed the unit’s technical capabilities, equipment, and training programs designed to improve the efficiency and preparedness of field teams in detecting prohibited materials, including narcotics and explosives.
Al-Nuwaif praised the efforts of the Customs Impact Unit personnel, describing their work as a vital component of national security and an essential support element in safeguarding customs facilities and enhancing community protection.
He stressed the need for continued development and professional training to ensure the unit maintains the highest standards of security and operational performance.
