‘Information Ministry’ affirms support for SMEs in tourism sector
Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, emphasized Kuwait’s support for small and medium enterprises in the tourism sector during the 27th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, affirmed today, Wednesday, Kuwait’s commitment in supporting and encouraging small and medium enterprises in the tourism sector to achieve sustainable development.
This statement by Dr. Muhaisen was made to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during his participation in the 27th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism on behalf of the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi.
Dr. Muhaisen added that the tourism sector represents a tributary of the economy of the Arab countries, emphasizing the State of Kuwait’s support for the joint Arab system for developing tourism, as well as for supporting development projects in this field and increasing cooperation with tourism organizations across the Arab world.
Furthermore, Dr. Muhaisen explained that the Ministerial Council discussed a set of proposals and recommendations during its meeting, which were put forward during the Council’s Executive Office meeting, held on Tuesday. Kuwait held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Executive Office during this session.
Dr. Muhaisen added that among the most prominent topics discussed and approved during the meeting were the challenges facing Arab organizations in the field of tourism and the mechanism for addressing these challenges through the exchange of expertise between Arab countries.
Notably, Dr. Muhaisen added that the meeting also discussed topics related to digital transformation, technological change, artificial intelligence, and how to leverage these technologies in tourism services and the development of the tourism system in Arab countries. Additionally, they discussed the implementation of the strategic tourism plan for the Arab region.
The State of Kuwait is participating in the meeting with a delegation headed by Dr. Muhaisen, which also includes Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, H. E. Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi.
Quality of Tourism Services
The State of Kuwait affirmed its support for all Arab efforts aimed at improving the quality of tourism services and enhancing investment opportunities in the tourism sector, recognizing it as a key pillar of sustainable development.
This came in a speech by Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, representing the Minister of Information and Culture, Minister of State for Youth, at the 27th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, which began its work today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
Dr. Muhaisen added that the meeting comes at a time when the world is witnessing increasing challenges, requiring us to further cooperate and work together to develop the tourism sector as one of the basic pillars for achieving sustainable economic and social development.
Moreover, Dr. Muhaisen pointed out that Kuwait affirms its support for everything that would enhance Arab cooperation in this vital sector and extends all bridges of cooperation and communication to any initiative or agreement that supports the tourism aspect.
Dr. Muhaisen stressed the need to combine efforts for the benefit of Arab countries by promoting the tourism sector in the Arab world and developing plans and proposals that would enhance the tourism system in Arab countries.
In this regard, Dr. Muhaisen stressed the importance of enhancing the confidence of the Arab tourist and finding the most successful ways to activate inter-tourism by creating more opportunities and joint initiatives between Arab countries, expressing his hope that these efforts will be crowned with success, advancement, and prosperity for Arab countries.
Dr. Muhaisen expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority, Saad Al-Kharji, for his distinguished management of the previous session and the success of the presidency period, which reflected Qatar’s constant commitment in supporting and enhancing joint efforts to advance the tourism sector in the Arab region.
Importantly, Dr. Muhaisen also expressed his wishes to the Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, Salim Al Mahrouqi, for success in managing the work of the current session, contributing to achieving the common goals in the field of tourism.
Dr. Muhaisen praised the distinguished efforts of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in preparing and organizing this session, which reflects its usual commitment to supporting the path of joint Arab cooperation. He expressed hope that the session’s work will be crowned with success and fulfillment.
In conclusion, Dr. Muhaisen expressed his hope that the meeting would be a new milestone in enhancing Arab cooperation in the field of tourism and lead to practical recommendations that would contribute to achieving common Arab aspirations.
