India held a meeting of its Advisory Committee on Middle East Relations in New Delhi on Monday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and relations with countries in the region.
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, in a press statement, said he chaired the meeting, noting the depth of relations between India and the Gulf States, Middle East, and North Africa.
Jaishankar added that the meeting focused on the decades-long partnerships and cooperation between India and the countries of the region in the areas of trade, investment, energy, maritime transport, and people-to-people exchanges.
He explained that the meeting also discussed New Delhi’s efforts to safeguard the interests of approximately 10 million Indians in the region, ensure energy and fertilizer security, and promote trade and connectivity amid the ongoing conflicts in the region.
He emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation with Middle Eastern countries in a way that serves common interests and supports stability and development in the region.
