Hundreds arrested in Kuwait for residency law violations

The Ministry of Interior targeted high-risk areas, resulting in thousands apprehended. Violators were referred for deportation and barred from re-entry.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed the continuation of security campaigns throughout Kuwait, urging everyone to cooperate with security personnel and report violators to the ministry.

In a new security initiative overseen by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf, operations in Al-Mahboula, Al-Mutla, Hawali, and Mubarak Al-Kair led to the arrest of hundreds of residency law violators.

The ministry strategically targeted areas with a high likelihood of violators, resulting in thousands being apprehended. Upon inquiry, those found in violation were referred to the administrative deportation department and added to lists barring their re-entry into the country.

In addition, a security source revealed to Al-Anba newspaper an increase in reports of absenteeism among expatriates recently.

The source emphasized that any individual or company implicated in investigations of labor law violations regarding residency will be held accountable. It was pointed out that workers caught without proper authorization will be considered violators of labor laws and subjected to investigation. If it is found that these workers were knowingly employed under false pretenses, and if their employer has no legitimate work for them, the company may face charges related to human trafficking.

The source added, “The issue of residency trafficking is receiving significant attention from the Ministry of Interior, as it is a serious and important matter affecting internal affairs. Measures are being taken to address these practices, which severely damage Kuwait’s reputation.”

“The source stated that several individuals arrested in yesterday’s campaigns had violated residency laws years ago, emphasizing the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to prosecuting all violators without exception.

The ministry reported that campaigns conducted by the General Directorate of Residence Investigations and Public Security resulted in numerous arrests across various areas.

The public security sector’s campaign, led by Major General Hamad Al-Munifi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for General Security Affairs, and Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Hamli, Director of Security in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, focused particularly on the Sabahan area of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate.
