HORECA Kuwait’s 13th edition to showcase 100 firms, 500 brands

The hospitality and tourism exhibition features thirty experts, over 8,000 specialized visitors, and four competitions, including cooking contests with fifteen international judges and 250+ chefs, plus barista, mocktail, and housekeeping contests.

HORECA Kuwait’s 13th edition, which was launched under the patronage of the Minister of Information and in the presence of ambassadors and company representatives, will enhance the role of tourism in Kuwait and develop the hospitality and food sectors.

The exhibition features tailored events for hospitality industry pioneers and is gaining momentum, reflecting Kuwaits commitment to advancing its tourism sector.

 

Dr. Nasser Al-Muhaisen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, highlighted Kuwaits commitment to supporting tourism, hotels, hospitality, and food sectors. He noted that Kuwaits selection as the 2025 Capital of Culture and Media will boost intra-GCC tourism, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

Al-Muhaisen, speaking to journalists after attending the opening ceremony of the 13th HORECA exhibition on behalf of the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, at the exhibition grounds on Tuesday, in the presence of ambassadors and company representatives, said, “A series of significant and exciting events will be organized in the fields of culture and media during 2025, which we hope will support the promotion of tourism in Kuwait.”

He stated that the exhibition will enhance the role of tourism in Kuwait and develop the hospitality, tourism, and food sectors, adding, “We invite those interested in hospitality, tourism, and food to visit the exhibition and learn about the latest achievements of international companies in these fields.”

He explained that the presence of such exhibitions and activities reflects growth in the tourism sector in Kuwait. He emphasized that the involvement of international companies and competitions in food and hospitality sectors enhances competition, which will positively impact the state’s tourism and hospitality initiatives, pointing out that the Amir’s support reflects the wise vision of the leadership in achieving sustainable development.

Exhibition features various events

For her part, the General Manager of Leaders Group Consulting and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Exhibition, Nabila Al-Anjri, highlighted that the exhibition features various distinguished events tailored to meet the needs of local, Gulf, and international hospitality industry pioneers and enthusiasts.

She noted that the growing interest in the hospitality sector has led to a strong presence of ambassadors, hotel owners, restaurant operators, and specialized companies working in the hospitality sector both locally and internationally.

She explained that this year’s exhibition stands out from previous sessions, with 100 participating companies, 500 international brands, and more than 8,000 specialized visitors.

She said that the exhibition also includes four different competitions, including cooking contests supervised by 15 international judges and the participation of more than 250 chefs, along with barista, mocktail, and housekeeping competitions.

Capacity of hotels in Kuwait climbs to 10,000 rooms

She highlighted that the hospitality sector in Kuwait offers significant opportunities and substantial growth potential, positioning it to compete regionally and globally. The capacity of hotels in Kuwait has increased to 10,000 rooms, including approximately 1,500 new rooms and suites added by newly opened hotels managed by global brands and chains.

She also noted that the government’s focus on hosting regional and international championships has helped revive the hospitality sector in Kuwait. During the Gulf Zain 26 Championship, hotels saw a significant recovery for the economy, with about 69,000 visitors attending the tournament and generating returns estimated at 61 million dinars.

In turn, Basma Al-Maiman, the Regional Director for the Middle East at the United Nations Tourism Organization, explained that this edition of the exhibition is gaining significant momentum and interest from stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism sectors, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to the development and advancement of its tourism industry.

She stated that Kuwait has achieved an unprecedented milestone, becoming the top global destination with the highest tourism revenue performance for 2023, showing a 151% increase compared to pre-pandemic 2019 figures.

Additionally, Jumana Damos, Managing Director of Ho Spit That Serves Company, explained that since HorecaInternational began its work in Kuwait, there has been remarkable growth, evidenced by the presence of various restaurants and hotels. She noted that the exhibition features 30 experts, along with 100 companies showcasing their products.
